What is OISC?

A Global Stage for
Student Research Project and Virtual Exchange

Each year, students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds come together to engage in discussions on global issues of their choice, conducted entirely in English.

Delegates connect across cultures, prepare an individual short paper and presentation, and share their research within an international SDG topic panel.

Step 1 — Padlet Intro · October 15–31

Post a short self-introduction and say hello to delegates from international institutions. Start connecting and sharing cultural background notes before Day 1.

2
Step 2 — Topic & Panel Assignment · October 25

Receive your assigned SDG topic panel and guidelines. Prepare your individual paper draft and 5-minute presentation slides before the conference.

3
Step 3 — Day 1: Cultural & Social Bonding · November 7

Meet your panel delegates live for cross-cultural connection, ice-breaking activities, and a 5-minute personal sharing session about local culture and background.

4
Step 4 — Paper & Slide Submission · Deadline November 28

Upload your individual short paper draft (up to 500 words) and presentation slide deck (about 5 slides) before attending Day 2.

5
Step 5 — Day 2: Academic Presentations · December 5

Present your individual research within your assigned topic panel: 5-minute presentation plus 5-minute live Q&A per delegate. Selected papers will be considered for publication in the 2026 OISC Journal.

④ About Us

Who We Are: Global Collaborative Learning Initiative (GCLI)

OISC is a multi-institutional, multi-country online COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning)-like program, founded in 2020.

Unlike typical 1-to-1 class-pair COIL, OISC brings together students from 11+ institutions across 6 countries for collaborative research, presentations, and cross-cultural exchange.

We are currently building the Global Collaborative Learning Initiative as a formal academic association.
